My Labels Won't Stick

Do your labels peel off after a while? Is adding extra glue to them not working?

Whether your containers are glass, metal or plastic, I've got a few tips to get those labels to stick just right!

Learn what type of label you are using
The type of label you use may determine how well it will stick onto your containers.

- Check to see if your labels are Repositionable or Permanent. If you are using removeables, try switching to a permanent brand.

- Switching from square-edged labels to round-edged may help as well because rounded labels are less likely to peel at the edges.

Always apply to a clean surface
It is possible that your jar or tin may have some dust or oil residue on it that prevents your labels from getting that perfect grip on them.

- If your containers are plastic try washing them with a little soap and water. Make sure to let them completely dry before trying to place your label on them.
- For glass and tin containers, wipe them down with alcohol. If you don't have any, you can also try vinegar or a surface cleaner (please make sure it is safe to use on your container, and test it out first)

Not too Hot not too Cold

- Your container should be at or near room temperature. If it is too hot, the label will not set properly and might move. If it is too cold, the adhesive could become less tactile and may not form a good bond with the container.

Protect your labels

- Try using label protectors. For a cheaper alternative, you can use packaging tape to cover each label.
- Shrink bands are also a great way to protect your labels.

What kind of labels do you use on your containers?
